Welcome to Pontyclun Primary School
Pontyclun Primary School is situated in the centre of the Pontyclun community.
We believe that children learn best when we engage with their curiosity. We aim to teach through fun, inclusive, relevant and memorable experiences that are celebrated by the school community.
We hope that our website, will give you a flavour of who we are, and keep you up to date with all the latest news, innovations and events, to which of course you are more than welcome!
As a school, we have fully embraced the skills based curriculum and Foundation Phase curriculum, guiding the children through their learning and developing the skills needed for life in the 21st Century.
If you would like to pay us a visit, then please contact Hugh Roberts at the school to make an appointment, where he will be proud to show you around and introduce you to Pontyclun Primary.
“Working together for a better future”
The School logo, shown above, illustrates a boy and girl greeting each other on a bridge crossing a river. Pont, the Welsh translation of bridge, not only refers to the village in which the school is located, but signifies that it forms a strong link between home and school, where children learn in a friendly, harmonious environment. The boy and girl denotes an equality of opportunity for all.
The original school motto, dating back to 1924, is:
“Dring yn uchel, dring yn uwch”
“Climb high, climb higher”
